This Avey drill press is in the toolmaking department at the Cummins Fuel Plant in Columbus, Indiana and has likely been there since the machine was new in 1935. This drill is the oldest machine at the plant, and the toolmakers have resisted management attempts to replace it because it is so easy to use.

The date of 1935 is an estimated date based on the machine serial number and a known Avey date from late 1936.
