The machine looked mysterious and worth pursuing. Discovered it was a Wallace machine after purchase here: http://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=181203
Appears to be the floor model depicted in an ad in the Aug 1954 edition of Popular Mechanics (see 3rd photo below). Some versions were apparently identified on their badge as a Routiser.
It also appears that a substantially similar machine was produced by R.A Ness under the Acme name. This machine variant is discussed here: http://www.owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=153276
