I acquired this tool in the 1970's while living in Northern Maine. It sat in a field I passed each day on my way to work on a farm. I could not stand to see it out in the weather, being rained and snowed upon, and so I purchased it, although it came dear considering a farm worker's wages. As far as age, I'm guessing somewhere in the 1800's(?). Nuts and bolts are square headed and the top wheel is entirely made of wood. This saw stands seven feet tall.

I acquired a wood lathe of what appears to be similar vintage. It also was sitting in the field right next to the band saw. I'll post some photos of it as well if anyone expresses an interest.
