Keller Jefferson 601 power hack saw.
Two speed motor pulley (120 & 160 strokes per minute).
Adjustable arm takes 12x1 or 10x1 or standard hack saw blades.
Sad condition. All bearings are worn out.
>>HISTORY<<
2003: Purchased at the former ReTool in Royal Oak Michigan.
2005-2006: Washed parts in Zep Purple cleaner, sand blasted, primed, and painted.
Summer 2006:
Purchased replacement parts (bearings, vise jaw, motor mount, pulleys, and belt) from Keller Industries.
The new owner of Keller could not provide information or parts for the automatic shut-off.
Fabricated shut-off rod from information provided by other OWWM owners.
Nov 2006:
Assembled.
Drilled and tapped blade arm where previous drive screws held the blade chucks.
Standard light weight modern motors (1/3hp 1725rpm AO Smith) are not heavy enough to produce the proper amount of belt tension to keep the belt from slipping. Tried motor bracket tension springs but the added tension severely deflects the resilient mount. Despite motor mounting issues, it cuts metal.
Aug 2013:
Resolved motor mounting issues.
Removed AO Smith motor and installed a vintage cast iron Howell 1/4hp motor.
Saw now cuts properly.
