Comments:
This Saw was originally supplied to the US Navy during World War II It was originally shipped to Clearfeild, Utah, which was the supply depot for the West Coast Fleet. The saw was probably shipped from there to Port Hueneme, CA, based on the location where we purchased it. In 1990 A Stair Shop won the saw on Auction, and it was used for many years, it then went to a Cabinet Shop, in Augora, CA for 10 years, There is where we purchased it for $1600.00. The attached picture is as it sits outside the cabinet shop, where we purchased it. There are no tags on the motor, and the previous owner believed it was a 10 HP motor, but Sarah at Yates American said that it was originally sold with a 5 HP motor. So when we get it into our shop we will have to determine the HP. The motor looks to me to be original, so it is probably a 5 HP. Purchased off of Craigs List 2-13-17.
The Saw will need to be cleaned up, needs new tires, brake, possible replacement of Guides, but all in all it looks in pretty good condition, it has the original paint and it looks in good condition for the age. This will be a before picture, we will post further pictures as we get it in our shop and cleaned up. It was to tall to fit into the previous owners shop, so it has sat outside since he moved to it's current location. Has not seen any use since moved to this location. But it will be put into immediate use in our shop.
Want to thank Arthur Fuege for his help in evaluating the machine, He was of Great Help. Thanks Again!
5/14/19 We have been running the saw now for 2 years. We removed the variable speed control as this saw is now almost exclusively used for re-sawing veneer for Stile and Rail Doors. We have Several metal bandsaws now that take care of our need in that department.
