This Machine was purchased from an auction near Tampa, FL. The machine has asset numbers etched into the surface indicative of school district markings.
The trunnion assembly is made COMPLETELY of cast iron. The only sheet steel used in the construction was for the cabinet, and the motor mounting bracket. The blade can be raised and lowered with one finger. Also, this machine has the full size Jet-Lock fence and rails along with a full cast iron table with "T" slots. The motor is a Rockwell branded fan cooled sealed cast iron unit producing 1hp with 115/230v single phase construction. The table insert is common with any Unisaw. As purchased, the saw came without any guards. I purchased the diecast Delta belt guard on e-bay, and I resurrected an old blade guard I had lying around the shop.
I prefer the splayed leg stand that this machine came equipped with over the cabinet style, and may eventually install storage below the saw. A modern cut-off switch was added and I installed an outlet on the cabinet rear to plug the motor into and also plug in another power tool. I can unplug the motor safely for blade changes and coffee breaks. This setup also allows me to remove the rear mounted motor for storage and transport.
Overall this is a very good machine. It has all of the features I was looking for in a table saw, ease of use, quality construction, compact size, and full featured. The machine sings when you turn the power on instead of shouting at you like most "contractor saws". I would not classify this machine as a contractor saw due to the liberal use of cast iron in the construction and the Jet-lock fence. I have coined a new classification for this machine: "Professional Artisan contractor Saw"
