I responded to an ad on CL and wasn't sure what to expect since the manufacturer of the machine was not spelled correctly in the posting. The man over the phone said he wasn't sure why people from back east where calling about this old machine. After he said that, I knew I had to get off the phone and drive 2 hours north to beat anyone else. I knew by the pictures who the manufacturer of this saw was, and when the wife says "you make sure you get this machine" you know you have to get it! We got up very early in the morning and got to the location before anyone else. To my surprise, after picking through the fence I noticed another green, vintage-looking machine right next to the saw. Once the gentleman arrived he let me into the yard and I was really exited to see all kinds of old beautiful rusty iron. He said that the saw was used at a local lumber yard in the San Gabriel, CA area for many years, after they closed their doors 30 years ago he got it but never used it. It even has the original motor! I was able to make a deal and purchased the saw and a planer. The planer was made by Superior, Chicago, Ill. The only problem was that he had the saw and the planer in the back of the yard and right in front on the door he had a vey old Caterpillar tractor that had not been moved in about 20 years! So he promised to deliver both machines to me at no extra cost! The next day, he arrived at my shop and we unloaded both machines safely. I will need a lot of help restoring the saw to a working condition, any help is very welcome.
