I spotted this sawmill in an incredible industrial museum in Istanbul Turkey while on my honeymoon, The Museum is the Rahmi M. Koç Müzesi http://www.rmk-museum.org.tr/en/index.htm it alone would be worth the trip to Istanbul, the museum is placed in a 13th century anchor foundry and 18th century shipyard on the golden horn - amazing. anyhow this sawmill was in use on the site in the late ottoman period around 1880, presumably sawing parts for ottoman ships. made by the P. & W. Macellan ltd of Glasgow the museum presumes that it was purchased new around 1880-1890 by the shipyard that now houses the collection. It was restored by the museum in the 1990s as Rahmi Koc built the collection of the museum, in his effort to collect and preserve Turkey's industrial heritage. And a fine job of it he did, the museum is huge, and ranges from woodworking machinery to steam engines, farm equipment, a fully restored 1914 steam tug boat, as well as a collection of the Sultans personal rail cars and a perfect 1840's Parisian bistro, which was saved from destruction in Paris, and restored as the museum restaurant.
