I acquired this machine 15 years ago from a local mill that closed. It was connected with a flat belt to a motor on the floor. We restored it and added a underslung 5hp motor. We replaced the flat belt sheaves with newer style 3V double belt sheaves. I mounted a motor midships under the main casting. Only one hole was drilled in the casting to mount the motor to the jointer. The cutterhead was left unmodified other than re-balancing. I supplied the original cutterhead sheave to Steve, the new owner, in the event it ever might be powered by an overhead belt drive system. It has a an original cast aluminum style gaurd and uses a two knife head spinning at 5000 rpm. It cuts smooth and easy. The photos show wood shavings from its test run.
