I am posting this for a friend of mine. When I was visiting this week, he asked if I wanted to look at an old power hacksaw that he had been given. Well of course... For a 'bench-top' saw, this saw is incredibly heavy - estimated 80 pounds - all cast iron base, cast-iron gearbox and integrated single-phase motor.
It is a 5X5 saw, and apparently a reciprocating action - I have never seen another saw like it.
The intended use is to cut ingots of metal for art forging - should do that well!
Update: 5-27-2018 - The saw was posted for a friend, who has since died. He was able to cast parts for the reciprocating mechanism, and apparently had it running, but I did not get to see it before he died. The saw went to someone else, so I have no further information on it.
