Spotted this one in a poor quality picture in an online ad. Suspecting that it was a Delta 620 I was quick to respond. Seller had it for sale along with a Craftsman 8" table saw from the mid 1940's He told me that they had belonged to his wifes father and he had not used them for over twenty years. He was insistant about selling them as a package. Given the rarity of the Delta 620 around where I live and the low asking price I never even debated the issue. Just paid the man and loaded them up. The Delta was in pretty decent shape just a few nicks here and there. I did repaint most of it but managed to keep the original decal. Replaced the motor with a Delta vintage 1/3 hp motor. The chuck needed some work and a member at OWWM was kind enough to provide me with some new jaws and springs.
The bearings in the spindle are a bit odd, two piece races like in the old bicycle sprocket bearing. The tab on the left side of the head is for a lamp and 1936 was the only year the drill had the tab.
Still looks good in my shop. I may sell it some day but not just yet.
