Comments:
This is a very early (Transitional) production b-4 model as it does not have any of the brass plating and badges present. This lathe is a transition from the early b-2 and B-3 models of which not many exist... This B-4 is very complete with early oil ports, and a original "Dalton thread counter. The ways casting does not have the later naming cast into beam. Early type apron. Also present is an original brass marking gauge on tail stock.

Was looking to upgrade to a lathe with a Lead screw. This is a pretty interesting and somewhat rare in that it is complete. There is much written about this (Dalton, lot 4: B-4) lathe on a web site in England. What is written: 200 of these same lathes were on the Lusitania when it was sunk by a German sub to start world war 1. There is also a Dalton Lathe group that I would very much like to be a part of. I have tried many times to talk with Mr. Turk who leads the group but without luck...If anyone could guide to becoming a member of the Dalton lathe group, I would be forever indebted!! I have already disconnected all the parts and am starting a restoration. One small gears is missing some small parts on the corners. (I think it is the tumbler gear...the gear which the forward and reverse lever engages. Anyway...please help me get in touch with the Dalton lathe group!!! And then I can edit this out of description.

Lathe has a very interesting thread counter. If anyone can tell me the maker, or is it unique, homemade?? Pictures below.

just updated with restored and cleaned lathe pics. Will make table top and mount to a table.... this summer. It has an interesting 3 jaw chuck from Connecticut.

Comments: restored lathe with stack of thread gears. This lathe does not have any of the original brass plates. I think this is not common, but came like this from factory. A hurried very early production model
