Comments:
I purchased the machine at the South Dakota Federal Surplus Property Agency Auction on August 20, 2005 for a price of $212 including taxes and any loading fees. It has a tag on it that states it was sold by the STAR MACHINERY CO. of SEATTLE.
As stated above, it is a Model 41 D, serial number 52944, which indicates a date of manufacture of approximately December 1941. It has a "Howel Induction Brand" 7.5 HP motor that turns at 825 RPM and has a 316 Frame.
Both tables tilt and move in and out from the wheels on slide, one table is adjustable up and down.
I also received two miter gauges with it, which I suspect are not correct, even though they fit in the slots. The machine has surface rust, but the wheels spin freely and I can find no broken, cracked or missing pieces, which is a minor miracle for a surplus unit. It looks like it will be an easy restore and make a very nice sander.
