This machine belongs to Peter Maynard of Cold River Furniture in South Acworth, NH. I recently learned he had a model 272 and asked if he would be willing to send me pix to post here, and he kindly agreed.
I'm not sure of the manufacture date but I have a #272 with Shop No 4315 that was made in 1921 so Peter's machine is earlier than that. There are a few minor differences between 4096 and 4315: the earlier base casting has the model number cast into the side of the base, there are no hold downs (or more likely they are simply missing), there is no cover over the chuck.
