This lathe was a most unique find. I was looking for a metal lathe to use in restoring/rebuilding a number of machines I have. After contacting a number of associates and local sources, I was advised that a "Sweet" Seneca Falls lathe was available close by. I contacted the seller and was advised that it was a heavy duty combination lathe (wood/metal) that had an 18" swing capacity.

After ascertaining the seller's address, I promptly went to inspect the machine. Upon driving into his driveway, I was met with this "Grand Old Lady" sitting outside (under cover of course), in front of his garage door. Inspection confirmed all parts were present and in good condition. Price was negotiated to a fair number and the dismantling for transporting proceeded post haste.

Lathe and all associated components were moved in two truck loads with the help of a willing and very helpful buddy!! No sooner had the lathe been physically moved into my shop then the heavens opened up and rained continuously for the next 72 hours. Just a typical day in the Pacific Northwest !!! Or as we call it "Rain Country" !!

This lathe was manufactured by The Seneca Falls Manufacturing Co. of Seneca Falls, N.Y. and distributed by The Canadian Fairbanks-Morse Co. Limited of Montreal, Que. I have not been able to verify the model number as as no identification tags are affixed to the lathe. Casting information has been inconclusive in determining a Model number.

Lathe has been in use ever since being installed in my shop. In an effort to keep my metalwork and woodworking operations separate, I am now considering making this a dedicated metal lathe only, as I am looking into purchasing an Oliver 25-A for my wood turning. Until this expansion occurs, this lathe is superbly servicing all of my turning needs.
