Comments:
I acquired this machine from a woodworker in rural Upstate, NY. He had acquired it through a trade years prior, but claimed he had no use for a saw that big. It had been sitting outside uncovered for 3 or more years when I discovered it, and purchased it for less than scrap price. The machine is complete with only one small crack near the lower door hinge. This seems to be a late 117 vintage, as it has the enclosed table tilt gear mechanism seen on the 217's. It also has a less-common hand brake located on the left side of the frame.

From a few decals on the saw, the motor appears to have been inspected, and perhaps tuned by Auburn Armature in Auburn, NY. Remarkably, the Howell 3HP 860rpm motor fired right up. It will receive a compete restoration and be put to use in my furniture shop.

Rich Fink at Eagle Machinery confirmed it was originally ordered and sold to a workshop in Albany, NY in 1938.
