Lathe was offered for sale on eBay in March 2003. The following information was included in the seller's ad copy:

Yates-American variable speed wood lathe, S/N J170 1872
Max diameter of work 12" over bed, 16" over gap

1 1/8" x 8 TPI spindle, 2 Morse taper
6" work rest
4" & 6" faceplates, 1 spur

This "J-170" appears to use some identical and some different castings from other Yates-American J-170 lathes of similar capacities.
