This Delta Homecraft 11" drill press was originally part of a "Delta Shop" unit along with an 8" 34-500 table saw and a 4" 37-110 jointer. I bought the entire unit from a fello Owwm'er out in Orange California who was given the unit as a freebie from some guy who wanted to get it out of the way.I bought the table saw and jointer for a friend of mine who had these same machines on a combo unit years ago that his ex-wife pawned off on him....lol
I wanted to set the drill press up as a free standing machine from the Delta Shop set up so I was able to get an NOS 1959 base still in the box off of another fellow member in Milwaukee and I found an original style motor mount plate for it on ebay for $14.
I added a new metal switch box, toggle switch, and cord to a new Marathon Electric 1,725 rpm 1/2-HP motor. All the castings were painted with US Paint "Awl Grip" 2 part polyurethane mixed to match the origainl Delta grey color.
This is one really nice small drill press and it is portable if I needed to take it to a job site...not a light machine but definatley portable if necesary.
