I found this saw in the back yard of a stove shop in San Jose Ca back in 1994. I can't remember how many coats of paint I blasted off, or what the original color was. I'm sure the guy I bought it from thought he ripped me off for $100 because he threw in the motor too. besides new paint the saw needed new tires, blade guides, bearings on the uper wheel, pullies and a belt.
The saw was set up to run off of a main drive line when I got it but it also was equiped with a factory made motor mount. The blade guide suport bar and upper wheel mounting are housed in "babbit bushings" the throat plate is also babbit material that was poured and scraped in place. Also of note are the trunions and lower blade guide monting bracket, which are cast in red brass. Unfourtunately I don't have the orginal guard for the up side of the blade. I have always wondered if the square hole in the side table is for a lower wheel guard.
I have used many different saws and this is one of the smoothest runing band saws I have used. It is acurate for resawing up to 9" boards and takes a 106" blade. Due to a recent purchase of a parks 18" bandsaw this saw is for sale as of 11-06
