Comments:
This lathe belongs to Bruce Alles, who inherited it from his father. It is identical to the W. P. Davis lathes, which isn't surprising since Charles Davis sold the W. P. Davis company after his brother died and then, when the buyers weren't interested in the machine tool business, established his own company to manufacture his brother's designs.
Bruce's father added the electrics. Bruce reports that the lathe has lots of accessories and runs well except that the Babbitt bearings are worn and the leather belt should be replaced.
