This is a very nice shaper with some special features. It has a two speed 3hp. motor. The slow speed is 7500 rpm, and the fast speed is an incredible 15000 rpm! It turns out that Onsrud made two spindles for it: a 1 1/8" diameter shaper spindle and a stub collet spindle for router bits. I just acquired a collet spindle for it and can now eliminate my separate router table. Onsrud also made an overhead pin fixture to use for inverted pattern routing. I managed to find one courtesy of Jeff Behan.

One very nice feature, which indicates to me that this is a later model of the shaper, is the table casting, which incorporates flat flanges on the bottom of the sides of the table. This provides a wide surface for clamping fences or other types of jigs to the table. Onsrud took special care in the finishing of their shaper tables. The top is just like a mirror with no grinding or planing marks left.

Although this seems like a relatively modern machine, it has the spindle mounted in the base casting and the table moving up and down to vary the height of the cut. The spindle is driven by a thin woven linen belt.
