Comments:
This Precision Model Lathe 700 with the Foot Power Table No 120 was obtained from an estate through someone else. The lathe was actually made by Massachusetts Tool Company (on paper label) which was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Goodell Pratt Company from about 1900 until 1912 when it was absorbed back into the GP Company. The Foot Power Table is marked Goodell Pratt. Included was the Precision Model Lathe Assortment No 1 that was a set of accessories packed in a nice finger jointed wood box. Goodell Pratt continued selling the same lathe said "Skilled mechanics, watchmakers and experimenters who desire a Lathe of moderate price that will handle small, delicate work will find this machine fulfills their requirements." In the 1922 GP catalog Number 15 it sold for $70 and the foot powered table cost another $40. In addition, there were a number of other accessories including a cross slide and a number of collets. Exploring what was included provided insight into what the original owner may have used it for. In the near future, will provide additional pictures and information on my website www.footpoweredmachinery.com under Goodell Pratt.
