This was owned by a 95 year old man who ran a machine shop that serviced the coal industry here in SE Kentucky. That industry is failing now and he and his son went out of business. I had feelers out to find a mill to do some gunsmithing and this man's name came up. I contacted him and arranged to see the mill. It was covered in not only grease, but coal dust as well. When I first saw it, I thought the machine was black, but after having a roll back come and get it, the wind on the way home removed enough of the coal dust to reveal a green machine that would go well with my Grizzly woodworking equipment. I spent 3 days cleaning this machine using Gunk tm, degreaser, and WD 40. Now it looks much better. It has been modified especially electrically. I think the switch may be bad and they added a relay and fuse box to the side of the machine. He also replaced the original motor with a single phase 5hp motor. I'm rewiring the relay now with a modern one.
I asked him what type of oil it used, but he looked at me like I had grown another head and said, "I don't know, I've never put oil in it." It ran like a top even though the oil reservoirs were dry as powder.

This box was added to the side of the machine. It had 110 outlets on it and a light with a flexible shaft. I think the switch may be bad, but I need to check further.
