Wow, a State OSS for only $200! All it needed was 9 spindles, bearings, oil seal,
sight glass, handle shaft, etc. I've been wanting one so I decided to save it from
it's downward spiral to the low rent district. All castings were blasted, filled,
primed and topcoated with a satin Imron. The table was blanchard ground and hand lapped
with waterstones. I was suprised to learn the original spindle rack was made of wood.
It was pretty trashed so I made a new one from MDO ply. All the missing or worn
parts were purchased from State who are fortunately still making parts. This was
a fun restoration of a useful machine that doesn't eat up too much shop real estate.
