We ran across an older gentlemen that still had his father's woodworking tools sitting in several old barns and shelters. Upon further inspection, we discovered that The Crescent Machine Co made these machines. One of the tools was a 24 " planer with a serial # 30062 stamped into the base of the planer on the outfeed side.
The planer was extremely rusty and looked to be in poor condition. With a lot of oil We managed to free up everything in just a short time. This planer has been sitting up for over 15 years, so you can imagine what kind of condition it was in. I have several pictures of it when we first got it. We are finished restoring it to its original state. This machine also has Babbitt bearings and a 2 blade square head cutter .
We also managed to salvage an old 26 " Crescent " band saw. It has a pat. Date of Jan. 3 1905. This too had been sitting up or should I say out for 15 years. It is very rusty but we will work on that and see if we can restore it too.
