I bought this small Dunlap 4 x 36 inch bench top belt sander on ebay for $19.95 This Dunlap 4 inch belt sander was sold by Sears and first appeared in the 1950 Craftsman Power Tool catalog for $14.95 and was produced into the mid 1960's. The 103 prefix model number indicates that this sander was made by the King-Seeley Corporation of Ann Arbor Michigan...however, all machines were actually made by King-Seeley's operating divison in Ypsilanti,MI Central Speciality.
This sander was in pretty good shape when I got it so I just cleaned it all up and gave it a fresh coat of US Paint Awl Grip matched to the original grey enamel. I'm going to replace the original "Oilite" bronze bearings with new ones from McMaster-Carr or maybe try some of the graphite impregnated type they offer. I plan to set up this sander and my Delta/Homecraft 8.5" disk sander as one set up running off of the same motor. I need to make or retro fit a sanding belt table fence until I can find an original one for this sander...if you have or see and extra backstop fence please contact me.
Here are the specifications on this sander as follows:
Belt size: 4 inches by 36 inches
Sanding table size: 4 3/8 inches x 12 inches
Drum diameter: 2 1/2 inches
Machine pulley: 2 inches
Motor pulley: 2 inches
Recommended motor: 1/4-H.P. to 1/3-H.P. at 1,725 RPM's
Weight: 19 pounds
