This Fine S-480 replaced our 205.
It is a much more productive machine.
The Newman Quiet Cut helical carbide head makes all the difference
We ran it for 4 years or so.
It came from Catawissa Lumber, Catawissa, PA
Still have it, and will maybe set it up again.
It came with another planer that was sold, and an extra quiet cut head.
The S-480 is a chain drive planer, the only Whitney that's not gear drive.
Was often mated up to a Whitney S-600 or Porter 715 Facer in early rough mills.

Quality, Progressiveness, Experience. You don't here "progressiveness" much anymore, but this company that started in 1837 claimed to have it.
