Recently listed in Thames (North Island, New Zealand). This is not mine.

It's a hand operated model No.52 "Saracen" pattern Improved Hand Mortising Machine, manufactured at the Saracen Tool Works of of Alex Mathieson & Sons Ltd, Glasgow, Scotland.

Stroke 6-inches. Will mortise a rail 11" deep by 8" thick. Originally came with 8 chisels 1/4" to 3/4", and 2 "blaze drivers" 1/4" & 7/16" - according to the 1933 Ninth Edition of their catalogue (page 54). Refer: http://www.hansbrunnertools.com/Mathiesoncat33plusreduced.pdf
