The old saw was given to me, I needed a small saw to keep in the garage that I could use for ripping boards.
Mechanically, it was in great condition. Cast iron with a stationary blade running in bronze bushings . The table is designed to be raised, lowered and tilted .It was mounted, along with it's motor, on a big 2x4 frame.

Restoration... I took the saw and motor apart and had them sandblasted and painted ( my son). I painted some of the parts ( motor coil, fence , extensions, etc.) with black appliance spray paint. then I built a frame with poplar squares. while assembling the saw I built a plenum box and added a vacuum port. The lower outlet is switched on with the saw to a allow a vacuum to come on with the saw. the miter gauge is held in place when not in use by a strong magnet. With the casters it can be easily rolled around like a hand truck. By mounting the very heavy motor (1/2 hp) at the bottom of the frame, the machine is very stable. A fun project!
