This machine was removed from a Philadelphia furniture manufactures building in the mid 1970's. There are no markings, foundry stamps or serial number noticeable on any of the castings the maker is unknown. The machine itself is approximately a half ton. With motor drive and wheel base it weighs in at nearly 1500 pounds. The 5 HP drive motor spins the cutter head at 3900 RPM’s (prior to a recent rehab the cutter head spun at a blistering 6900 rpm). The cutter head has two 30” knives set. The cutter head rests in three cast oil bath Babbitt bearings. The cutter head itself weighs in over 120 pounds without knives. The repulsion induction drive motor manufacturer went out of business in the late 30’s. The estimate age is 100 years old. The jointer runs true and is smooth as silk.
