The only history I've been able to find is on this site. This machine appears in Parks Woodworking Machinery catalog C as No. C-135 and listed for $90. It also appears in the "Make the equipment fund go furthur" ad which is dated 1926 and it lists there for $110. I have not found any numbers on it, aside from the part #'s which are cast into the individual parts, but I also have not begun restoring it yet, so it is still in one big dirty piece. The part #'s are 4 digit and all begin with 108.
At some point in it's life a motor mount was added. Everything turns but the shaft that drives the chisel does not move vertically and there is a crack in the lower bearing housing on the front shaft.
I saw it hanging around a Buddhist Temple that was under construction while I was there seeing to the gas supply and on subsequent visits noticed it just getting moved around alot. I asked about it and was told it was destined for the dumpster. It is now residing in my basement awaiting restoration.
The hardest part I believe will be the Babbitt bearings as 1- I've never done it, and
2-there is a one piece bearing housing on each shaft, so I'll be buying extra babbitt material for sure.
Personally, I like the "agricultural" look.
