I bought this one off CL and when I went to pick it up, saw that the cast iron base was missing and had been replaced with a home made plywood one. Having driven 50 miles with a trailer and the fact that it can with a box containing 5 more chucks including an Albrecht ½" and a Jacobs 14N ball bearing as well as three more decent ones, I decided to overlook the base problem and took it home. I did a complete overhaul including all new bearings, another motor (a Master RI) and sandblast and new paint as well as fabricating a new steel base. The base came out very well and is slightly larger than the original and more stable. The runout on this is about .001". I have redone several of these and this was the best running one I have had. I think that these Delta 17" presses are the ideal machine for most shops. I always equip them with the slow speed pulley set and relocate the table locking handle on these to make it easier ti use.
