I bought this machine in Haverhill, MA which is not too too far from Greenfield, where they are said to have been produced. It has a couple interesting features. There is a weight system that actuates a cam which pushes up the piston that holds the upper drum. It is basically a tensioner. Also, there is a pulley right before the Lovejoy coupling which looks like it aligns with a right angle gear box in the base. This may have been to hold a disc sander but it is quite low on the machine. It is difficult to tell what this may have been for originally. It ran just fine when I bought it. Note the pin just below the belt. It may have held a table of some sort.
