Comments:
I bought this sander/grinder from a woodworker who was selling his shop equipment for health reasons. He bought all of his Delta tools in Tupelo, MS in the early 1970s and was quite proud of the quality of his equipment. Even the motor on this grinder is the heavy duty capacitor start Model 62-144 as shown in a 1973 catalog. He used the machine for grinding wood lathe tools more so than for sanding. I also have been using it for that same purpose. With the use of a shop made jig I have had very good results grinding a consistent bevel on my lathe tools. The 42" belt provides a long grinding surface and doesn't tend to burn the tool steel.
