Comments:
The serial number is stamped in the manufacturers plate as 41002BIO, but it is suspected that the number should have been stamped 41002B10 to indicate model B10.
The saw is definately a 10 inch saw as the following list of casting numbers would indicate.
casting
number part desc.
BL10-1 table
also cast into underside of table:
SPRUNGER BROS.
TOPEKA
IND U.S.A.
BL10-2 cradle
BL10-3 saw arm also SCC cast marking
BL10-4 Motor mount
BLl0-5 fence bracket
BL10-6 saw arm lock
S65 handwheel 3 spoke wheel with SPRUNGER cast on one spoke and S65 on another
27-304 rip fence bar- long
20-301 tilt bracket also a P inside of a diamond
Note that these numbers are the same as in the NB1025 parts listing. The parts listing does not include the L for the parts. All parts are the same or very similar to those shown in the NB1025 parts list and diagram.
I originally thought this was a floor model until I looked at the Catalogue which shows a closed cabinet on the floor models. This saw has a stand as shown in the catalogue on this web site.
The photos are of the saw as I acquired it(basket case) stored in a cabinet while awaiting its turn to be re-born.
The original motor had been replaced with 1/3 hp 1725 rpm Craftsman. I have a 1 hp 3450 rpm GE to put on when the restoration is completed.
(Admin note: updated serial number data 30June2006.)
