This machine was originally owned for about 10 years by a small shipyard in Lockport, La. that fabricated shrimp boats. The owner of the company died about 10 years ago and his sons sold off all of the shipyard equipment. This sander was purchased by a gentleman who was just starting a picture frame business. He has owned the sander for another 10 years and did not use it in his business. I found out about it through a friend who told me he wanted $500.00 for it. I decided to wait him out and offer him about $350.00. After at least 6 months, I had my friend hit him up with my offer. He was told that he found the OWWM site on the internet and State Mahinery's phone #. He called State and someone there told him he could get at least $1,000.00 for it on ebay. At this point, I figured I had dumb-assed myself out of enough money and almost out of the sander so I went to see the gentleman and forked over $750.00 for it. A lesson well learned. If you find the exact machine you've been looking for at a fair price, BUY IT.

While doing a bit of clean up on the sander, I found a tag stuck behind the switch cover box. The 2nd and 3rd picture shows each side. The 1st side tells of insertion and removal of the spindles and the other side says that the oil level should be 5/16" above the bottom of the gauge and that the oil should be changed every 3 months with high quality 20W oil. The gentleman I bought it from mentioned that the person he spoke to with State said the same thing.

I am please to have found this machine even for the price I paid for it. It is 1ph and had all 10 spindles and a box of 40 grit sleeves, but only 1 throat plate. I've since purchased 100 and 150 grit sleeves and will post a picture of the machine afer restoration.
