This may be the youngest Davis and Wells jointer to surface here. Only the second one posted here with the bulbous steel base. This one belongs to my brother. The fence (will add photos of it when I get a chance) has a feature I've not otherwise seen on these - two round black plastic knobs sticking out the top, presumably for better leverage to tilt the fence?
Here's a little bit from the late Joe Potter:
"Davis & Wells got bought out by Pal Industries around 1983. Most of the machines they continued to sell were made in Shenyang, China, but even that stopped around 1986-ish."
