I picked this jointer up at an estate sale on January 1. My kind of sale only one other person there, i.e. known bottom feeder, and the 4 car garage/shop is packed with old delta machines. This fellow ran a cabinet shop out of his home. 30 minutes to closing at noon. Since I couldn't see the motor condum, I peaked in the hole in the front of the stand and had a unisaw motor in front on my face. Quick check of the machine which was completely puke green like everything in the shop except the HD shaper in the dark corner which was Delta gray. The other guy spotted it first and quickly made a deal. Well back to the jointer. Under the green paint was a very good machine. The motor turned out to be toast but that's another story. I spotted the paper SN tag a machinery dealer tag that I had run across before so I was sure I was dealing with a warbird machine from the early 40's so I picked it up since the asking price was fair.
The jointer has been repainted, tags cleaned and repainted and some minor repairs she is ready to work again. My best guess is this shop sat idle for 10 years and as the machines went down they sat idle.
