I bought the bandsaw in 1998, "as is" from a scrap dealer in Westmead South Africa for the sum of Rand 75 which equates to about $US 10.
Miraculously the bandsaw was intact with no damage apart from heavy rust. It was brought into the scrapyard by an African on a wheel barrow. Where he acquired it from is a mystery. He was paid the going rate at the time for scrap iron of 15 (SA) cents per kilogram. The only parts actually missing were two black knobs holding the front covers, the two hand knobs, springs and washers attaching the table to the trunnions and the table insert. The motor had been removed (probably at the scrapyard) as the belt was still there. Spares, a parts catalogue and operating manual were obtained from Rockwell Delta.I refurbished it and it has been an asset ever since.
This bandsaw has been passed onto my son to start his workshop. I acquired another 14 inch Rockwell Bandsaw to take its place.
