Comments:
This Solem Manufacturing Company two drum, 36" wide, endless bed sander with drum oscillating mechanism and automatic single point oiling system was purchased by Theron Wolcott, of Wolcott Construction Company circa 1970, from a Massachusetts shop sale. It was installed in place at Wolcott Construction by 1975, and sanded a lot of shop projects and a performed a lot of custom sanding.

I recall running this machine in the 1970's and remember disliking the sand paper changes.

The Solem sander illustrated on the OWWM site in a catalog cut dated 1919--the Endless Bed sander--seems similar but does not have the individual motor drives. I believe all three motors are open framed Louis Allis motors. The drums are each 5 hp and the feed is three, a total of 13 hp for this sander. Each of the drum motors has an ammeter mounted.

I have been given this machine and intend to store it here in rural Vermont until I can decide how to proceed.
