This jointer was owned by a man who used it for 45 years in his cabinet shop prior to moving it to his home about 7 years ago. He got it from his father, so I'm not sure when it was built. It is in working condition. It is powered by a 3 hp single phase General Electric motor (model # 5KC225H2). It still has the Dealer's tag "Sold by Mackon Machinery Co. Woodworking Machinery, Contractors Equipment, 467 E 3rd St., Los Angeles, Ca."
Cylindrical 3 knife cutterhead. Infeed table: 4 feet X 17". Outfeed table: 3 feet by 17", although there is a 2" X 1/2" rabbeting ledge on the outfeed table that is parallel with the edge of the blades. The outfeed table also has three threaded holes for moving the fence towards the front of the jointer or skewing the fence. The tables move up and down with hand wheels. They can also move back and forth by loosening hand knobs on the back of each table's carriage and sliding it on the dovetailed main frame. The fence is 50.5" X 4.5", tilts 45° in and out. It seems to be missing an end cap for the front cutterhead bearing, as another Superior jointer (8") on Phil Anderson's site (www.madrona.bizhosting.com) has the same bearings with an end cap. The blade guard appears to be homemade. I'll post new picks when restored.
Behind the jointer is an American Sawmill Machines "Jewel" 15" Planer. See pics under that name for more info on the planer.
