This is the oldest Lion Trimmer in my collection. It was made by Peter Dosch's Lion Machine Co. - while he was still located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the center of the trimmer universe. In 1900, Dosch relocated to Yonkers, NY (perhaps to aviod patent infringement lawsuits by Wm. R. Fox), and received his patent on this machine on July 17 of that year. This early Lion is unusual in that it has a plain, rectangular table (as shown in the patent), unlike the familiar "curved front" table that was introduced over 100 years ago.
