The photo is reproduced here with the permission of the eBay seller. When it appeared on eBay, this machine started a discussion concerning its concentrically-mounted blade tilt and height adjustment handwheels. Most No. 88's have separate handwheels, with one mounted on the front of the machine, and one on the right side. A picture of one like this - with the concentric handwheels - appears in the 1930 circular saw handbook, that's reproduced here elsewhere. This one would appear to be much newer than that, as it's got one of the red (post-1956) Oliver dataplates. However, this might not be the case. The seller advises that the dataplate is completely blank, and shows no model or serial number. So, is it possible that this machine was returned to the factory - without a dataplate - for rebuild at some point after 1956? Maybe the factory just added the blank dataplate and didn't put on a serial number, since the number was unknown. So, the mystery of the concentric handwheels is yet to be solved. Does anybody know anything about them?
