My father in law gave me this shaper last september (2004). It sat on my garage floor till March of 05 until i figured out what to do with it. The orignal color was gold. The top was very rusty but on a whole it was well kept. The height adjustment was seized and when i went to adjust the height i broke the handle. Not to worry i took it to work and am in the process of having it milled with new threads. It will be a bit shorter but should still do the trick. The whole machine was glass bead blasted then primed in Aircraft zinc primer. (Free primer). Then i painted the machine in a shark grey rust paint. All parts were blasted then primed except for the adjustment knobs. I just cleaned them off. As for the wood fence...it will be changed as soon as i get around to it. Machine shops are harder and harder to find nowadays, i would like to have the top machined down but all the places in my area say they cannot do it. I did get the orignal motor but it was really in bad shape so i decided to purchase a new one. Thanks to Mr Garrett for the idea of putting the shaper on a new craftsman grinder stand. Works great. As for the cutting...I need to find some "Rust Free" bits.
