Comments:
I purchased this lathe in 2001 from an eBay seller in Michigan. It is a model 1460 with the cast iron leg set and countershaft for 16-speed operation. It is in original condition with the exception of the drawer and expanded metal belt guards that had been added by a previous owner. A lexan guard also came with the lathe, and you can see the black bracket for this attached to the rear of the lathe bed. I am not sure if the 1/2 hp GE motor is original or a replacement, since the lathes could be purchased with or without a motor. The only modification I have made since this picture was taken was the addition of link-belts to replace the regular v-belts.

I had been looking at lathes at local auctions, but had been unable to find anything satisfactory. When I came across this one, I decided I had to have it. As a result, I paid more than a bottom-feeder price for it, but it also included a Nova Chuck and Coes Jaws, a Glaser Screw Chuck, an older English-made "universal" chuck, 4", 12", and 90 degree rests, a face plate, a drill chuck, numerous live and dead centers and a dozen high quality turning tools, mostly Sorby. All for about the same price as a new Delta 12"x36" lathe on a stamped metal stand. I later purchased a 24" tool rest (also on eBay) and am keeping my eye out for other accessories, including a second banjo.
