While talking to a friend on my cell phone, my friend was approached by a mutual friend and used tool dealer. The dealer asked my buddy how to get a hold of me. My friend handed the dealer the phone. Dealer says I know how much you enjoy this old stuff (i.e. Old Arn). I have an old 12 inch Parks for sale. Are you interested? Of course I said YES! I called the dealer next day to have him do a walk around of the planer. 90% complete I decided. Handle assembly to disengage feed rollers was missing. Also one chip breaker and one knife was missing too. He quoted me a price. I then had to go see for myself. I went by his place to look it over. I paid for and picked it up the next evening after work. Dealer loaded it with his forklift into the back of my friends truck. Got it home, unloaded it, picked it up and placed it onto a furniture dolly (took 4 large fellas to do it!)Then I began to REALLY check it out. Had a huge old 1 hp, single phase motor with grease caps over the bearings. Motor needed new bearings. UPDATE: It was a journey to get my Parks finished, but well worth the trip. Replaced the motor with a new 1hp, TEAO A.O. Smith. It feels good when all that hard work pays off and the machine hums along like it should. Now, on to my next project. :-)
