Comments:
I don't know any of the early history of the saw....a picture in the 1949 Craftsman catalogue (on the OWWM.com website) is what I went by to date the saw. I restored the machine to original condition using parts from a junker saw (the same model) and got it running and cutting OK.....when I installed new guides from Carter Products, it started cutting great. I try to keep my old machines original, but when a new product makes it perform so much better, I have to go with the new stuff.....of course I do keep the original parts in case a purist wanted to put it back original.

The thing I don't like about the new guides.....not being able to use the blade guard that mounted to the old guides. I'll have to be careful until I can fabricate a guard that will work with the new guides.

Since my last posting on this tool I purchased and installed Timber Wolf band saw blades....made it cut even better.
