Oliver 182-DB Comb. Disk and Belt Sander 1968 vintage.
I've been waiting for one of these for a long, long time. Seems like this is one Oliver machine that is almost always overpriced. Got this one from Fleabay and it was a 2004 restoration so I haven't had it that long. In fact this is the only machine in my shop that I haven't used much, yet. Apologies are that it did not have any accessories and the table on the belt side is not original. These tables are the notoriuosly weak point in this model and this one probably got broken in days gone by. Some previous owner fabricated a table from steel but it is in the process of being redone by by the sugar company now.
This sander surprised me at how long it took to reassemble after the teardown and paint. This bugga has a lot of little parts! She had been stored outside at some point, and even though this is one of my youngest Olivers, she had a lot of rust and was way ugly. Good news is it did not cost me much and nothing was broken or repaired and nobody else had worked on it before.
This one is wired 208 3 phase and runs very smooth. We did not have to replace the bearings on this one. Looking forward making some dust with it.
Aloha,
Chuck.
