I first saw this drill press in use in a airfield hanger 10 years ago where wooden antique air planes were in different stages of restoration. Got to know the original owner of the drill press who was a WW2 B17 bombardier. He showed me his pictures of the B17 with tail damage.
The son contacted me about the tools after his dad passed away. I bought several tools. One of the tools was this drill press. It came with the cross vice and some WW2 equipment lockers.
I replaced the 2 open bearings you see on the table from the spindle, replaced with 3 sealed bearings. Doubled up on the bottom bearing. Replaced the old power cord and the old v-belt with new 1/2"x46" v-belt, oiled the motor bearings. The belt pulley bearings were very dry. They are open style bearings so just repacked with grease. It now runs smooth. No arc of shame.
