Boynton & Plummer No.1 post drill.
Bought back in May, 2015, from Dunedin, New Zealand, and collected last week (1st November 2015).The chuck is marked "Boynton & Plummer, Maker, Worcester Mass."
Single speed, with the flywheel mounted on the same shaft as the crank. Drills to the centre of a 11” circle; dia. of spindle = 1 3/32" (27.9mm); feedwheel is 5½" dia. and has 64 notches; dia. of flywheel = 14½"; main crank gear has 46 teeth; spindle gear has 30 teeth. Dia. of pillar = 1 9/32".
Missing table, auto-feed bracket, spring & adjusting thumbscrew; auto-feed arm & pawl. The main casting has been broken and repaired with riveted reinforcing plates.
I bought this post drill for parts, in order to progress my No.1½ Boynton & Plummer post drill.
